Dr. Yonghui Song is Chief Scientist, Doctoral Supervisor, and Second-Level Researcher at the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. He specializes in watershed water environment management and has led over ten major national and international research projects, including theNational Water Pollution Control and Treatment Project, the863 Program, theNational Key R&D Program, and theEU Environmental Sustainability Program.

Dr. Song played a key role in establishing water pollution control systems for theLiaohe,Yangtze, andYellow Riverbasins. His research achievements—covering phosphorus pollution management, pollution–carbon reduction synergy, and ecological restoration—have been applied in nearly one hundred cities. He also led the development of theMethod for Classifying Risks of Sudden Environmental Incidents in Enterprisesand participated in emergency responses to major national environmental accidents.

Twice recognized among the“Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances in China’s Ecology and Environment”(2022, 2024), he has received more than ten national and ministerial science awards.

Dr. Song serves asMember of the National Expert Committee on Ecological and Environmental Protection,Director of the Water Pollution Control Committee of the China Association of Environmental Protection Industry, andExecutive Editor ofEnvironmental Science & Ecotechnology. He is listed in China’s“Ten Thousand Talents Program”as a leading innovator and is a member of theEuropean Academy of Sciences and Arts, theAfrican Academy of Sciences, and theInternational Expert Group for the Protection of the Earth System.
