China-Indonesia Cooperation in Environmental Protection and Energy: Pragmatic, Efficient and Building a Green Bridge for Overseas Development
On March 31, 2026, the Belt & Road Eco-Industry Cooperation Working Committee of the All-China Environment Federation (hereinafter referred to as the "Working Committee") and the Anhui Office of the All-China Environment Federation (hereinafter referred to as the "Anhui Office") paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China, and conducted in-depth discussions on China-Indonesia cooperation in the field of environmental protection and energy with Mr. Rizaldi Indra Janu, Director of the Investment Promotion Center of Indonesia in Beijing. Xia Jimiao, Director of the Anhui Office of the ACEF, Shi Xiang, Secretary-General of the Working Committee, as well as representatives from enterprises including Anhui Victor Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., Boxinda Construction Co., Ltd., PowerChina, and East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. attended the event.
At the forum, Director Xia Jimiao expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Investment Promotion Center for its long-term support in China-Indonesia industrial cooperation, and highlighted the collaborative working mechanism between the Anhui Office and the Working Committee of the ACEF. Relying on the ACEF's national network and local resource advantages, the two sides integrate the forces of the government and enterprises, accurately align with Indonesia's green development needs, build an international docking platform for domestic enterprises in the environmental protection and energy sectors, and support enterprises to explore the overseas market efficiently.
Director Rizaldi Indra Janu elaborated on the service functions and coverage of the Indonesian Investment Promotion Center, interpreted in depth Indonesia's investment policies, market demands and cooperation support measures in the environmental protection and energy field, and responded in detail to the questions concerned by enterprises such as market access and project docking procedures, and clearly defined the key directions for subsequent resource docking on site.
Enterprise representatives including Fang Wuyi, Chairman of Anhui Victor Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., Liu Lili, Department Head of East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., Zhao Zhihao, Deputy General Manager of the International Engineering Company and General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Regional Company of PowerChina Beijing Engineering Corporation Limited, and Bing Shuai, General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Region of Shandong Electric Power Construction International Co., Ltd., focused on introducing their technical advantages and cooperation demands in the fields of power engineering, photovoltaic energy storage and green building design based on their core businesses, and emphasized the need to connect with Indonesian projects and promote the implementation of cooperation, which received a positive response from the Indonesian Investment Promotion Center.

Fang Wuyi stated that China-Indonesia relations are currently in a "honeymoon period" with a solid foundation for cooperation. Indonesia is vigorously implementing its 2045 Environmental Vision, boasting enormous market potential for new energy construction. As a sci-tech investment enterprise focusing on new energy construction and intelligent operation and maintenance, the company has established in-depth cooperation with central state-owned enterprises such as PowerChina, and possesses full-chain service capabilities. The company is firmly implementing its overseas development strategy, taking Indonesia as its core market, and making every effort to promote the effective implementation of cooperation projects.
Liu Lili introduced that East China Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., founded in 1952, is a world-class leading engineering design and consulting enterprise serving national strategies. In 2026, it ranked 51st in the ENR Top 150 Global Design Firms and 20th in the Building Design Top 100 Global Architecture Firms. Adhering to the philosophy of "Chinese Design, International Quality, Local Service", the institute has rich experience in super high-rise buildings, comprehensive transportation hubs, urban renewal and other fields, and possesses comprehensive strength to serve major infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
Zhao Zhihao introduced that PowerChina Beijing Engineering Corporation Limited, as a core enterprise under PowerChina, has long been deeply rooted in Indonesia's energy and infrastructure market, with a core focus on hydropower, new energy and comprehensive water resources development, and is able to provide full-life-cycle integrated services. The institute has formed a stable market layout in various parts of Indonesia, established in-depth strategic cooperation with local government departments and enterprises, integrated Chinese and Indonesian technical standards, adhered to localized development, and made remarkable contributions to Indonesia's energy security and economic development. In response to Indonesia's 2045 Environmental Vision, it is willing to rely on its technical and project experience to accurately align with local needs and carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of new energy development and hydropower upgrading in Indonesia.
Bing Shuai stated that Shandong Electric Power Construction International Co., Ltd. has been deeply engaged in the overseas energy engineering construction field and has laid out in the Asia-Pacific and Indonesian markets for many years, with rich practical project experience and localized operation capabilities. Its business covers multiple energy categories, and it has full-chain service capabilities such as EPC general contracting and operation and maintenance management of energy projects. The company hopes to take this docking as an opportunity to deeply participate in Indonesia's green energy construction, and carry out pragmatic cooperation with Indonesia in the fields of new energy development and traditional energy upgrading, so as to support Indonesia in realizing the optimization of energy structure and carbon emission reduction goals.
The two sides reached a number of consensuses on deepening China-Indonesia cooperation in the environmental protection and energy field. It was clearly emphasized that the Working Committee of the ACEF will organize Chinese environmental protection and energy enterprises to conduct a business inspection tour in Indonesia from April 19 to 25. The tour will focus on key industrial parks, government departments and industry institutions in Indonesia, conduct face-to-face negotiations and project docking, and help enterprises accurately seize the development opportunities of Indonesia's green industry.
This visit is a concrete practice of the Working Committee and the Anhui Office of the ACEF in synergistically advancing the Belt & Road eco-industry cooperation, which has further opened up the government-enterprise docking channel for China-Indonesia cooperation in the environmental protection and energy field. In the future, the two sides will continue to give play to their role as a platform and bridge, take the Indonesian inspection in April as an opportunity, integrate abundant enterprise resources and international cooperation channels, promote the effective implementation of China-Indonesia green industry cooperation projects, and inject lasting impetus into the joint construction of a green Belt and Road.
