All-China Environment Federation Visits Chilean Embassy in Beijing to Advance Green “Belt and Road” Cooperation
In order to actively practice the green development vision of the Belt and Road Initiative and to deepen pragmatic cooperation between China and Chile in the fields of ecological protection and the new energy industry, Secretary-General Shi Xiang of the “Belt and Road” Eco-Industry Cooperation Working Committee under the All-China Environment Federation (ACEF), led a delegation to visit the Embassy of the Republic of Chile in China upon invitation. During the meeting with Mr. Pablo Vera, diplomat from the Economic and Environmental Affairs Section of the Embassy, the two sides held in-depth and productive discussions on environmental issues of mutual concern, industrial cooperation opportunities, and future directions of collaboration.

Solid Waste Management: China has mature technologies and extensive experience in waste classification, resource utilization, and safe disposal. It is willing to share expertise with Chile to enhance solid waste management efficiency.
Water Environment Management: The two sides may jointly address water ecological challenges through closer cooperation on water resource protection, sewage treatment, and water-saving technologies, facilitating precise connections between enterprises and experts.
Renewable Energy: Strengthening cooperation in photovoltaic, wind power, and other clean energy development, as well as co-developing projects, to support the green and low-carbon transition of both countries.
Environmental Monitoring Technologies: With advanced expertise in monitoring air, water, and soil quality, China is ready to share intelligent monitoring solutions with Chile to help build an efficient and precise ecological monitoring system.
Shi further noted that ACEF looks forward to making use of international platforms such as the upcoming COP30 United Nations Climate Change Conference to advance both South-South and South-North cooperation. He expressed the Federation’s willingness to organize delegations of Chinese environmental enterprises and technical experts to Chile for exchanges and project development tailored to Chile’s energy and environmental needs.
Mr. Pablo Vera warmly welcomed the delegation and commended ACEF’s outstanding contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development. He elaborated on Chile’s national strategies and policy priorities for energy transition and climate change response, highlighting the country’s ambitious plans and vast market potential in wind, solar, and green hydrogen development. Mr. Vera stressed that the Chilean government attaches great importance to cooperation with China and is eager to work with leading Chinese enterprises in the renewable energy and environmental sectors. He also expressed expectations for close communication with ACEF’s Belt and Road Ecological Industry Cooperation Committee to jointly plan high-level forums and technical exchanges—strengthening bilateral ties while also showcasing the achievements and leadership of China and Chile in green, low-carbon development on international multilateral platforms.

The meeting was held in a friendly and fruitful atmosphere. Both sides agreed to establish a regular communication mechanism and outlined an initial cooperation roadmap. This visit not only deepened mutual understanding but also laid a solid foundation for future pragmatic cooperation between ACEF and Chile under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
