On August 1, 2025 (last Friday), Mr. Ibrahim Ibrahimov, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in China, visited the All-China Environment Federation (ACEF) to participate in a discussion on the preparatory work for the “Belt and Road” Green Brand International Expansion Promotion Conference. Mr. Shi Xiang, Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Belt and Road Ecological Industry Cooperation Committee of ACEF, attended the meeting. Both sides held in-depth discussions on the pathways for China-Azerbaijan green industry cooperation.

During the meeting, Secretary-General Shi provided a comprehensive introduction to ACEF’s core functions and achievements, emphasizing that the federation is committed to “promoting international collaborative development of the environmental protection industry through non-governmental exchanges.” He stated, “China’s environmental protection technologies have formed a complete industrial chain. We look forward to using the 'Green Brand International Expansion Plan' to help outstanding enterprises connect with Azerbaijan’s ecological development needs.”

”Mr. Ibrahim Ibrahimov highly recognized the role of ACEF as a bridge in promoting green and low-carbon transformation and expressed particular interest in China’s technical strengths in photovoltaic power generation, waste-to-energy incineration, seawater desalination, and pollution source tracing and monitoring. He said, “Azerbaijan is actively advancing its ‘Green City’ strategy and urgently needs to introduce advanced environmental solutions. The embassy is willing to work with ACEF to establish a mechanism for enterprise matchmaking to accurately align supply and demand resources of both sides.”

Moving forward, the two sides will continue to advance preparations for the “Belt and Road” Green Brand International Expansion – Azerbaijan Promotion Conference, focusing on the four aforementioned priority areas. They will also establish a China-Azerbaijan environmental enterprise database, with the embassy providing policy and market demand lists and ACEF selecting suitable technology enterprises to promote localized project implementation.

This exchange marks a shift in China-Azerbaijan environmental cooperation from “consensus” to “joint action.” ACEF will leverage the flexibility of non-governmental organizations to create a replicable new model for green industry international expansion, injecting ecological momentum into the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
