Forging a Green Future Together: China-Iraq Environmental Technology Cooperation Supports Iraq’s Low-Carbon Development
Iraq Project Exchange Meeting
At the exchange meeting held at the Embassy of Iraq in China, Secretary-General Shi Xiang gave a detailed introduction to the role of ACEF and its Belt and Road Committee as platforms for promoting international environmental cooperation. He expressed hopes that this meeting would focus on Iraq’s environmental and energy needs and promote the export of green technologies, equipment, and services, supporting Iraq’s green and low-carbon transition with advanced technologies and mature experience.
Ms. Hiba, Economic Counselor at the Embassy of Iraq in China, warmly welcomed the delegation and pointed out that water resource management, solid waste treatment, and clean energy are key areas of interest for Iraq.

China-Egypt Environmental Cooperation Upgraded: Technology Going Global and Joint Park Development to Expand the Green Market
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Embassy of Egypt in China and held discussions with Ambassador Khaled A.F. Nazmy, Second Secretary Ahmed Hosny, and Third Secretary Mahmoud Feilab. The two sides reached multiple consensuses on topics such as the joint development of green industrial parks and cooperation in environmental technologies, injecting new momentum into the building of a Green Silk Road between China and Egypt.
Meeting at the Egyptian Embassy
Ambassador Khaled A.F. Nazmy warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized that the environmental protection industry is one of the top priorities of the Egyptian government. At the COP27 climate conference, Egypt and China demonstrated a high degree of cooperation and alignment, and China is regarded as Egypt’s most important partner in achieving sustainable development.
Secretary-General Shi Xiang elaborated on the core work and mission of ACEF. The federation is committed to showcasing China’s achievements in sustainable development and environmental protection through non-governmental channels, supporting Chinese environmental enterprises in expanding internationally. He also introduced the Belt and Road Green Brand Going Global Initiative, which aims to select representative Chinese environmental technologies and products to promote across Belt and Road countries. Since its launch, the initiative has successfully organized multiple international field visits and facilitated several international cooperation projects.
During the talks, the Egyptian side expressed strong interest in building a China-Egypt Green Cooperation Demonstration Park. Ambassador Nazmy noted that the establishment of such a park would receive strong support and policy incentives from the Egyptian government. It would not only attract investment from Chinese environmental companies but also promote the development of Egypt’s green industries.
Both sides agreed to organize a Chinese enterprise delegation to visit Egypt during the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Week in November, and to establish a dual-track cooperation mechanism: the embassy will provide policy and investment guidance, while ACEF will coordinate enterprises and formulate detailed cooperation proposals. In addition, both sides will work together to build a long-term cooperation platform for the environmental industry, promoting regular exchanges, project matchmaking, and technology sharing to achieve institutionalized and sustainable development of China-Egypt environmental cooperation. These pragmatic steps will effectively align Chinese environmental technologies with Egypt’s market needs and lay a solid foundation for future project implementation.
During the meeting, Chinese companies in water treatment, solid waste disposal, and environmental monitoring demonstrated advanced technologies and successful case studies, which received high praise from the Egyptian representatives.
Ambassador Nazmy expressed the full support of the Egyptian Embassy for ACEF’s work and pledged to help build bridges for cooperation between Chinese and Egyptian enterprises. He looked forward to welcoming more high-quality projects from Chinese environmental companies and jointly writing a new chapter in China-Egypt environmental cooperation.
Both embassies expressed their strong support for follow-up cooperation and the acceleration of project implementation. This exchange marks a new step forward for China’s environmental industry in going global, contributing to the dual goals of environmental governance and low-carbon development in Belt and Road countries through technological innovation and model export.
