Recently, a delegation led by Shi Xiang, Secretary-General of the Belt and Road Ecological Industry Cooperation Working Committee of the All-China Environment Federation, visited the Asian headquarters of Saudi Aramco, a global energy giant. They held productive talks with Mohammad N. AlMulhim, Vice President of Engineering Services at the company, and Wang Hongxiang, Engineering Technology Manager. The discussions focused on the potential for cooperation in the fields of environment and energy, exploring the implementation of green technologies and sustainable development projects. The aim is to jointly address environmental challenges in Saudi Arabia and promote green energy and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Shi Xiang expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception by Saudi Aramco's Asian headquarters and outlined the core mission of the All-China Environment Federation. The federation is committed to showcasing China's achievements in sustainable development and environmental protection through non-governmental channels, helping Chinese enterprises in the ecological and environmental sectors expand into international markets and achieve global development. He introduced the "Belt and Road Green Brand Going Global Initiative," which aims to select representative Chinese environmental technologies and products to promote China's environmental solutions to countries along the Belt and Road. Since its launch, the initiative has successfully organized multiple international inspection activities and facilitated the implementation of several international cooperation projects. The "Belt and Road Green Brand Promotion Event (Arab Region)," part of the initiative, is scheduled to take place in Beijing on April 25, 2025, and will invite representatives from Arab League member states and leading Chinese enterprises to discuss cooperation opportunities in the green energy sector. This event is not only a platform to showcase China's green technologies and products but also a significant opportunity to promote international green economic cooperation. Through this event, exchanges and cooperation between China and Arab countries in environmental protection and green energy can be further strengthened, jointly advancing the development of the global green economy. Secretary-General Shi Xiang invited representatives from Saudi Aramco's Asian headquarters to participate in the event and deliver a keynote speech on potential cooperation areas between Saudi Aramco and Chinese enterprises, with the shared goal of contributing to global sustainable development.
Mr. Mohammad N. AlMulhim highly praised the work of the All-China Environment Federation and emphasized Saudi Aramco's strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. He mentioned that Saudi Aramco has been dedicated to promoting clean energy and environmental technologies worldwide, aligning closely with the goals of the All-China Environment Federation. He expressed willingness to participate in the "Belt and Road Green Brand Going Global Initiative," particularly the promotion event targeting the Arab region, and looked forward to deepening cooperation with Chinese enterprises to jointly advance green energy and environmental technologies. He specifically noted that Saudi Arabia, as a major global oil producer, faces significant environmental challenges, particularly in managing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and wastewater treatment during oil extraction. The Saudi government and enterprises are actively seeking international cooperation, and Saudi Aramco's Asian headquarters, as a key hub connecting Central Asian countries, will actively seek collaboration with Chinese enterprises to develop environmental technologies and projects tailored to Saudi Arabia's environmental conditions.
Secretary-General Shi Xiang stated that China has accumulated extensive experience in the research and application of environmental technologies, particularly in VOC management and wastewater treatment, where Chinese enterprises have developed a series of efficient and cost-effective solutions. The All-China Environment Federation is willing to serve as a bridge to promote in-depth cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia in the environmental sector, jointly advancing the application of green technologies and the implementation of environmental projects. As global attention to environmental protection continues to grow, cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia in this field will open a new chapter, not only improving Saudi Arabia's environmental conditions but also setting an example for global environmental efforts.
Both parties agreed that this exchange has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. The All-China Environment Federation and Saudi Aramco will continue to maintain close communication, explore more cooperation opportunities, and jointly contribute to global environmental protection and sustainable development.
