H.E. Mr. Erik Solheim, former UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) becomes the Senior Adviser of "Belt and Road" Eco-industry Cooperation Working

The "Belt and Road" Eco-industry Cooperation Working Committee, is delighted to  announce H.E. Mr. Erik Solheim, a Norwegian diplomat and former Minister of Norway, who served as the UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Environmental Programme between 2016 and 2018 join the Committee as Senior Adviser .

As Senior Adviser to the Comittee, H.E. Mr. Erik Solheim will provide guidance on the BRI green transition and sustainability, bridge Chinese enterprises and international market with prestigious experts to strengthen interaction, communication and cooperation,while also engaging with stakeholders in China, realize the sharing of resources at home and abroad.  Erik Solheim is well-positioned to inject more positive energy to BRI.

About H.E. Erik Solheim

From 2007 to 2012, H.E. Mr. Solheim held the combined portfolio of Norway’s Minister of the Environment and International Development, and from 2005 to 2007 served as Minister of International Development. Following an extensive career focusing on environment and development in government and international organizations. H.E. Erik Solheim served as the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme from 2016 to 2018.

Erik Solheim is one of the most prominent ambassadors for Green transition, both in business and politics. He is the Vice-chair of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, Convener of the Advisory Committee, The BRI International Green Development Coalition, Senior Advisor of World Resources Institute,chairman of the advisory board for Afroz Shah Foundation and the chair of the Developments roundtable at the Green Hydrogen Organization.
