Technology Name

The "Belt and Road" meteorological satellite land and surface  ecology & disaster data monitoring system

Technical principle

1. "Belt and Road" Meteorological Satellite weather and climate Data Production Subsystem: Based on the level of meteorological satellite data and the secondary products at home and abroad, including the typhoon Marine related products, land surface temperature product, VASS stratified temperature, typhoon best path data sets, precipitation products, aerosol optical thickness, sand and dust and greenhouse gases, and other products, in the tropical cyclones, extreme high temperature, extreme precipitation and dust, atmospheric environment project, aiming at different areas, Such as the South Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Northwest Pacific, Mongolian Plateau, Africa and other regions, the production of thematic maps, product maps, statistical maps and other products.

2. "Belt and Road" Meteorological Satellite Oceanographic Data set Production Subsystem: Based on the first-level data of domestic and foreign meteorological satellites and second-level products, including sea surface height, sea surface temperature, sea fog, sea ice, chlorophyll concentration, suspended matter and other products, in the theme of wind field, El Nino, sea fog, sea ice and Marine ecology, for different regions, For example, the global ocean, the "Belt and Road" key sea areas and ports, the North and South polar regions, the South China Sea, the Bohai Sea, the Okhotsk Sea and other areas, the production of different periods of thematic maps, product maps, statistical maps and other products.

3. Sub-system for the Production of the "Belt and Road" Meteorological satellite Terrestrial Ecology and Disaster Datasets: The global assessment of terrestrial vegetation ecological environment, drought monitoring, crop monitoring, biomass burning monitoring and evaluation, snow monitoring and flood monitoring are realized by using the observation data of FY-3 and products generated by product system PGS, supplemented by similar satellite products such as MODIS, mainly by automatic business and supplemented by human-computer interaction. For continents, countries or key regions, the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and change trends of land surface ecological environment are analyzed, and the impacts of drought, flood, fire, volcanic eruption and other disasters on ecological quality are assessed, and monitoring data, graphs and list products for specified time periods and designated regions are generated.

Scope of application

1. In the field of weather and climate, it is applicable to tropical cyclones, extreme high temperature, extreme precipitation, dust, atmospheric environment and other topics in the South Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Northwest Pacific, Mongolian Plateau, Africa and other regions.

2. In the Marine field, it is applicable to regional wind fields, El Nino, sea fog, sea ice and Marine ecology topics such as global oceans, key areas and ports of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, North and South polar regions, South China Sea, Bohai Sea and Okhotsk Sea.

3. In the field of land surface ecology and disaster, it is applicable to global terrestrial vegetation ecological environment assessment, drought monitoring, crop monitoring, biomass burning monitoring and evaluation, snow monitoring and flood monitoring in continents, countries or key regions.

Process flow and description

1. The weather and climate data production subsystem consists of the production and analysis subsystem of global tropical cyclone, extreme high temperature in key regions, global extreme precipitation, dust in key regions, global atmospheric environment and other data sets.

2. The meteorological satellite ocean data set production subsystem is composed of global ocean wind field, El Nino and La Nina, sea fog in key regions, sea ice in key regions, and Marine ecological data set in key regions.

3. The sub-system for the production of terrestrial ecology and disaster datasets of meteorological satellites consists of the sub-systems for the production and analysis of terrestrial vegetation ecological environment assessment, drought, crop growth, biomass burning, snow cover, flood disaster and volcano monitoring datasets.

Promotion prospects

Along the “Belt and Road”, there are many uninhabited areas such as mountains, deserts and oceans. Meteorological data are scarce and natural disasters occur frequently. Formed by the project results can provide weather climate, oceans, epicontinental ecology and disaster areas such as strong technical support, give full play to the role in disaster prevention and mitigation from meteorological satellite, positively provides the high-quality service to along the countries and regions, perfect the exchanges and cooperation between government, make our country better world meteorological center members responsibilities, it will narrow the gap between developing and developed countries, provide support to developing countries in improving their meteorological service capacity, and build a meteorological community with a shared future.
