In-situ Gas thermal Desorption Remediation Technology GTR®


Technical principle

Gas or LPG goes into burners, mixing and burning with clean air inhaled by the negative-pressure combustion air blower. The hot air goes forth and back through heater wells and conduct thermal energy to surrounding soil up to targeted temperature. Contaminants is splitting decomposition and desorbing in the heating process. Extracted by SVE or MPE to earth's surface the contaminating vapor goes to gas-liquid separation section. The resulting waste gas and condensed water are respectively processed in the exhaust gas treatment system and waste water treatment system, and then discharged up to regulations.

Scope of application

GTR® technology can treat almost all kind of organic contaminants and volatile inorganic compounds, including Chlorinated organics (CVOCs), benzene series (BTEX), petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), agricultural chemicals, Poly-chorinated biphenyls (PCBs), Dioxin, mercury (Hg) and nonaqueous phase pollutants (NAPLs) etc.

It’s especially suitable for the site remediation of high concentrated and /or combined organic pollution, and the site of low permeation and denser stratums. The tech is unique solution to excavation-forbidding application scenes including the remediation of deeper contaminated zones, dense-population surroundings, contaminated zones beneath infrastructural facilities.


Process flow and description

1.Gas goes into burners, mixing with clean air and burning. Hot air flow through heater well and conduct heat to ambient soil to targeted temperature, making soil splitting decomposition, desorbing and transferring contaminants into vapor phase.

2.Negative-pressure combustion air blower inhaled clean air into burners and send flue gas into the chimney discharging into air.

3.Vertical extraction wells and horizontal extraction pipe network extract contaminated vapor and soil water to earth’s surface.

4.After energy transition and gas-liquid separation, solid waste is flocculated and condensed from it to be further treat as hazardous waste. The liquid pollutants goes to waste water treatment section, and the vapor goes to exhaust gas treatment, respectively treating and discharging.

5.Temperature and pressure in the site are monitoring throughout whole the heating process.

Promotion prospects

GTR® can only one time treat all organic and volatile non-organic contaminants with high remediation standards, and is suitable for low permeable, dense and inhomogeneous stratums. It posses wide application market in many industries as chemical engineering, metallurgy and steel, refinery, etc. esp. for industrialized cities in southern China. GTR don’t need much machinery, and is flexible for construction and convenient to supply energy. Because in situ GTR is still in initial stage and DDBS has independent IP core tech, GTR® own wide market prospect.
