Technical principle

Aerobic Fermentation Process

High temperature aerobic fermentation usually consists of, pretreatment, fermentation, post-treatment and storage.

a. Pretreatment：Since moisture content is high in livestock excrement, pretreatment during fermentation is mainly to adjust the moisture and carbon to nitrogen ratio.

b. Fermentation: The aerobic fermentation process consists of two stages: primary and secondary fermentation.

(1) Primary fermentation. The first stage of fermentation, from the time the temperature rises until it begins to fall, is a fermentation process characterized by the rapid breakdown of the easily decomposable organic components of the excrement by microorganisms. During this stage, oxygen is usually supplied to the pile or fermentation unit, and the microorganisms present in the livestock excrement absorb the carbon, nitrogen and other nutrients in the organic matter. When synthetic cytoplasm is reproducing itself, the microorganisms decompose the material absorbed in the cells to produce heat.

(2) Secondary fermentation. Also known as decomposition stage, it is a fermentation process that microorganisms decompose the organic matter that is difficult to degrade at a lower rate and ferment intermediate products. In this stage, the easy and difficult to decompose organic matter that has not been decomposed in the primary fermentation are further decomposed into more stable organic matter such as humic acid and amino acid, resulting in a fully mature fermented material finished product.

c. Post-treatment: After fermentation, finished organic material needs sorting to remove debris, and according to the needs (such as the production of refined bio-organic fertilizer) processes like re-drying, crushing, granulation and packing, compaction and granulation should be conducted as well. The relevant processes of post-treatment depends on the practical operation.

In 2020 such farmers will be scrutinized for farming without sound excrement handling equipment or with substandard equipment.

According to the newly implemented Environmental Protection Tax Law, enterprises, institutions and other production operators whose storage or dispose of solid wastes do not meet national and local environmental protection standards shall pay environmental protection tax.

As a farmer, livestock excrement is a major cause of pollution. According to national regulations, if the excrement can be discharged to an authorized waste treatment plant, or if it has its own treatment and storage facilities approved by the state, there is no need to pay taxes.

Therefore, the presence of sound excrement handling equipment that is up to standard is the key point in measuring whether a farmer shall pay the environmental tax. Strict investigation of farmers who do not have any excrement handling or storage facilities will be taken.

The implementation of this project not only increases the economic benefits of the farm, but also achieves source reduction, alleviates environmental pollution and effectively solves the problem of odor pollution from the farm. Problems like environmental pollution, virus transmission, breeding epidemic prevention and safety have been fully improved. 

The project can really turn waste into fertilizer and treasure for farmers, and promote the reuse of livestock and poultry excrement resources in China's agriculture and livestock husbandry industry from "Government-promoted Passive Investment Type" to "Social Capital Active Investment Type". After the project is put into practice, it can effectively alleviate the pollution problem of farming waste, meet the national environmental protection requirements and promote the sound development of farms.
