On January 12, 2026, Mr. Rizaldi Indra Janu, Director of the Indonesia Investment Promotion Center in Beijing, paid a visit to the All-China Environment Federation (ACEF). He held in-depth talks with Mr. Shi Xiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the ACEF Belt and Road Eco-Industry Cooperation Committee. The two sides conducted thorough exchanges on practical cooperation in renewable energy, green investment, industrial park construction and other fields under the Belt and Road Initiative, and reached broad consensus on further deepening bilateral cooperation.

During the talks, Shi Xiang briefed the Indonesian side on ACEF's functional positioning and development philosophy. He pointed out that since its establishment in 2005, ACEF has always adhered to the three core concepts of "Great China, Great Environment, and Great Unity". It has given full play to its role as a bridge and link between the government and society, actively integrated resources from government, industry, academia, research and application sectors, and continuously made efforts in policy research, international exchanges, industrial coordination and technology promotion. ACEF has been committed to advancing the high-quality development of China's environmental protection cause, actively participating in the global environmental governance process, and promoting the common progress of the world's environmental undertakings.

Shi Xiang emphasized that with the in-depth advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the accelerating global green and low-carbon transition, China and Indonesia enjoy a solid foundation and broad prospects for cooperation in ecological environmental protection, green industry and sustainable development. ACEF is willing to leverage its platform advantages to strengthen communication and collaboration with relevant Indonesian institutions, and promote the implementation of more practical cooperation outcomes.

The two sides also conducted systematic discussions on the overall direction and key areas of China-Indonesia green development cooperation. They agreed that on the basis of respecting each other's development stages and industrial characteristics, both parties should further strengthen policy coordination, information sharing and project collaboration to elevate bilateral cooperation to a higher quality and level. To operationalize these consensuses, the two sides focused on seven core areas for in-depth consultations and formed specific cooperation frameworks as follows:

First, regarding renewable energy cooperation, the Director of the Indonesia Investment Promotion Center stated that renewable energy is one of the key strategic areas for Indonesia's current and future development. The Indonesia Investment Authority plans to systematically introduce the development priorities, policy orientation and cooperation opportunities in Indonesia's new energy sector at the "Belt and Road Green Brand Going Global Initiative and the Annual Conference of the Belt and Road Economic and Environmental Cooperation Forum" hosted on Jan 29, 2026, Beijing. This initiative aims to build a communication platform for relevant Chinese and Indonesian institutions and enterprises, and promote the continuous deepening of bilateral cooperation in clean energy, green technology and industrial collaboration.

Second, in terms of enterprise matching and industrial cooperation, both sides agreed that they should fully leverage their respective platform and resource advantages. Through various means such as forum exchanges and thematic matching events, they will enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between Chinese and Indonesian enterprises, promote the formation of a number of demonstrative and sustainable cooperation projects, and continuously expand the breadth and depth of cooperation.

Third, focusing on cooperation in Indonesia's special economic zones and industrial parks, the Indonesian side indicated that it will actively support Chinese enterprises to further understand the development plans, industrial layout and investment environment of relevant Indonesian parks. It encourages both sides to carry out multi-level and wide-ranging exchanges and matching in green manufacturing, environmental protection industry and related supporting fields, so as to create favorable conditions for enterprise cooperation.

Fourth, on the cooperation between chambers of commerce, associations and investment and financing sectors, the two sides held that it is necessary to strengthen communication and collaboration with relevant chambers of commerce, associations, financial institutions and investment entities. Centering on green industries and key cooperation directions, they will explore more diversified, flexible and sustainable investment and financing cooperation models to provide strong support for project implementation and long-term cooperation.

Fifth, the two sides also discussed the organization of exchange and inspection missions to Indonesia and the establishment of government communication mechanisms. ACEF stated that it will continue to play its role as a bridge and platform, actively promote communication and connections between relevant Chinese and Indonesian institutions, local governments and enterprises, and enhance the pertinence and effectiveness of exchanges and cooperation. It plans to organize relevant exchange and inspection activities around April this year to further deepen practical cooperation between the two sides in key areas.

Sixth, both sides agreed that under the framework of the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) mechanism, they should further strengthen dialogue and cooperation between China and Indonesia in climate change, green development and sustainable transition, and explore the establishment of a more stable and long-term cooperation mechanism.

Seventh, based on the existing cooperation in ecological environmental protection and new energy, the two sides also proposed to gradually expand the space for cooperation in infrastructure. Centering on industrial park construction, transportation, energy infrastructure and related supporting services, they will strengthen exchanges and coordination to foster a multi-field and comprehensive cooperation pattern. Synthesizing the consensuses reached across the above seven areas, both sides emphasized the pivotal role of the ACEF Belt and Road Eco-Industry Cooperation Committee as a platform hub:

Both sides concurred that as an important platform for ACEF to promote international eco-industry cooperation, the ACEF Belt and Road Eco-Industry Cooperation Committee will give full play to its role in overall coordination, resource integration and service matching in the follow-up cooperation. Relying on forum exchanges, project matching and international cooperation mechanisms, it will continuously promote multi-level and institutionalized cooperation between China and Indonesia in green industry, ecological environmental protection, new energy and related fields, providing strong support for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The two sides indicated that this exchange has laid a solid foundation for deepening China-Indonesia green industry and investment cooperation under the Belt and Road framework. Going forward, under the active promotion of the Committee, they will maintain close communication, promote the gradual transformation of relevant consensus into practical cooperation outcomes, and make joint efforts to contribute to regional green development and sustainable growth.
